We’ve been busy this spring and summer performing top of the line AC repair and maintenance on HVAC systems. We want all of our customers to have the best cooling system for their homes not only this summer but for years to come. Here are a few common mistakes that we’re finding with our customer’s and homeowners’ ac systems.
- Debris and overgrown landscaping surrounding the AC unit can be detrimental to its performance. Your AC unit requires 2 feet of clearance between itself and any landscaping and debris. With less than 2 feet of space, debris, plants, weeds, and landscape decrease efficiency due to blockages, dirt, and dust accumulation. This also prevents the motor from running smoothly and creates more stress on the entire system. Clear away yard waste and landscaping immediately to properly care for your air conditioning system.
- Old air filters are a common culprit to a poorly functioning AC unit! You must read your owner’s manual and change that filter every 30 days to keep the air and system running and flowing well. When an air filter isn’t regularly changed, undue stress is put on the air conditioning system by either clogs or accumulation which causes early failure. If you’ve been neglecting this task, please change those filters immediately. If you’ve changed them recently and they look dirty, change them again. Not only is this maintenance imperative for your air conditioning system, but it’s necessary for your health.
- Lack of service and inspection can lead to premature failure in systems. HVAC technician professionals know exactly what to look for in a healthy (or unhealthy) air conditioning system. Inspections and tune-ups are cheap and affordable and can often prevent problems before they occur. This can save you significant money in the long run. We urge our customers to call us for an inspection and tune-up sooner than later. As the heat of the summer approaches HVAC and air conditioning services to get swapped and are more difficult to schedule. The sooner your call, the better our availability.
Be sure to take proper care of your air conditioning system for the coming summer by taking care of your HVAC system so you and your family can stay cool when the weather gets hot.
